It is over two years that Europe is divided on net neutrality. In the meantime, the US Federal Communications Commission (FCC) presented, on 26 February, the Open Internet Order establishing a number of principles on the internet of the future in order to ensure a unitary network, accessible to everyone, non-discriminatory and open to innovation. The Italian Ministry of Economic Development (Telecommunications) has tasked Maurizio Decina, professor at the Politecnico di Milano, and a group of experts to analyse the FCC’s paper, to explore possible convergences between the two sides of the Atlantic on internet management rules. From a strategic point of view, the Italian government believes that the future of the net depends, first and foremost, on a closer political and economic relationship between Europe and the US, two continents sharing a common set of values of freedom that are the basis of the internet’s success. http://europolitics.info/us-fcc-open-internet-order-model-europe https://edri.org/compromising-on-net-neutrality/ http://arstechnica.com/tech-policy/2015/06/republican-budget-would-prohibit-fcc-from-enforcing-net-neutrality-rules/
